Mark Making - Then and Now

This one man show was at the Belfast Print Workshop in May 2023 and include original design for the theatre, new collages and giclee prints as well as work from previous exhibitions.

The exhibition seeks to explore what constitutes authentic printmaking, which I have always regard simply as mark making. I first started using printing devices to emulate pattens and material on costume designs and often, when I made set design drawings, I used the same techniques - and I know understand that this is a form of 'monoprinting'. The first three designs are examples of this and I showed the original drawings. These drawings are also available as giclee prints as are all the other works on show. The next 4 small works are collages of found, printed and especially prepared printed papers and the main exhibition print (on the invitation) is  a large giclee print of one of these.
