Angel

This piece is a unique porcelain table top sculpture. She rests  gazing inwardly with her almost featureless face. Her feathered wings lay gracefully brushing her base, as her body emerges from the formless clay beneath her. She is wrapped in a shawl, or is it a hijab? 

Often associated with western religion, its possible that within this piece, the Angel takes her form with a more Eastern gaze? Here the artist plays with the origins of our beliefs about such archetypal beings.
