Bar Beach dusk, Helford

Painted on Arches Huile paper, protected with a clear wax coat, mounted on board and framed with a St Ives tray frame in white wood which measures 8cm.

A painting inspired by that last flare of sun on a clear day. The walk to Bar Beach follows a narrow lane which is fringed with beautiful trees. Some are evergreen, like the distinctive Monterey pines that fringe the banks of the Helford. Others like this, possibly a hazel, are bare at this time of year and the tree skeletons create mesmerising patterns against the play of light on the water behind them. I love these last moments of the day where the blue water is bleached by the sunset colours, taking on the feel of a vintage photograph.
