I love the stillness before the sun comes up. The landscape is a silent blue shadow at first light. The star of this painting is the sky, and particularly the clouds. That morning layers of clouds towered overhead, including two powerful looking hail clouds which promised to release their contents at any moment. I love the majesty of these early morning skies, every day new colour combinations and shapes paint themselves across your vision, often looking unreal in their intensity.
This is my daily walk, along a potholed track. Water collects to form puddles, and in the gloom of dawn these puddles become mirrors to the sky, reflecting up the vivid hues from the dark path.
