I love the drama of the pink skies in this painting. I adore painting with dusky pink and particularly enjoy using it in a way that it isn’t too sickly sweet, by toning it with darker shades and using bold strokes. This is a painting where some of the chance brush marks were immediately right, for example the dash of emerald green that hints at the pine trees on the headland.
