The perfect antidote

I think this is one of my most iconic images, it is the one that most people remark on and want to buy cards of. It was painted during a particularly wet and grey January, and to lift the winter blues I decided to use the most glorious colours in my paint box. Hence the name, “The perfect antidote”. It worked, looking and playing with those saturated tones of orange and pink lift the spirits. I also had in mind the Fauves and just picking colour for its saturation and not worrying about it being accurate. I love how the space in this painting works, it almost defies the colour, and the almost oriental style trees that frame the scene. I love this painting, it has a beautiful new home now but it is one that I miss looking at!
