The last of the light

I love the atmosphere in this painting. It was inspired by a sunset on Bar Beach, looking up the river at the moorings. I like the challenge of creating paintings with boats that don’t look too obvious, and I like the fact that the boats are barely there, almost just ghost masts in the twilight. The orange glow was made more luminous by layering over a thin glaze of Unbleached Titanium white mixed with cold wax to create a lustre that recreates the dusk.
