Just a perfect day, Durgan

SOLD

This painting will be displayed as part of the "Spirit of Cornwall" exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro from October 9th to January 20th 2024.

The third painting of the beach view at Durgan. The title was inspired by the Lou Reed song, and captures the way in which a day at Durgan is always perfect, perfect is normal. It is a magical spot to stand and watch the yachts buzz by on their way from Helford Passage out into Falmouth Bay. In an easterly wind the breeze can stiffen considerably and unexpectedly, gusting the clouds and catching sailors unaware. This painting was painted on a pink ground which has then been revealed with solvent wiping and scratching to peep through the blue paint layers of the water and sky. It has been selected for the “Spirit of Cornwall” exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro.
