Ethereal light, Helford morning

Autumn has brought a late burst of warmth, and this delivered the most amazing misty mornings which made cold water swims in the Helford even more magical, like swimming in a cloud. This painting is inspired by the moments as the sun finally breaks through the mist, which hangs so thick in the air you can see it moving and swirling around the distinctive headlands. This is a very textured painting, built up with layers of oil paint and cold wax on canvas.
