A gentle sunlight, Grebe

This is a painting love letter to my happy place, and the title is inspired by a beautiful track by James Quinn of the same name. I first came across his music through Instagram and now regularly have his playlist on whilst I am painting as it is perfect for concentration and relaxation. I like the looseness of some of the brush and palette knife marks, and it has the contemplative quality I was looking for. I particularly like the sunburst behind the trees, one thing I love doing is representing light with big slabs of paint so it becomes a very tangible and tactile element on the canvas.
