Another piece inspired by our journey at dusk on our boat Blue Spirit to lay up in Gweek boatyard for the winter. The title is taken from the first line in the classic Helford novel, "Frenchman's Creek" which is just yards from this scene.
We followed one other boat and I liked how their solitary mast looked heading into the setting sun. This was just as we passed the turning off to Port Navas. I didn't want this to become a twee boat scene so have pushed it to a quite abstracted view. I am obsessed with the shimmer as the light fades and the subtle tapestry of colours it creates in the sky and water.
