Brighter

I love this painting, the orange segment lifts my spirits whenever I look at it. And yet the darker areas of the painting are intriguing, your eyes wander around, exploring the shapes and half shapes, trying to make sense of them. There are traces of a headland, of undergrowth, of a sunrise, but it remains just out of reach. There is an illusive quality to the scene that intrigues me and makes me want to look at it.
