Diane Whalley
Diane Whalley is a self-taught contemporary abstract artist, based in Cornwall. She paints intuitively from both personal reflections and the imagination often using playful gestures which dance over the canvas. Personal lived experiences of loss, moving to Cornwall in 2004 and travelling the Mediterranean by sailboat across numerous years, have influenced the artist and her process for painting. Starting with a thought, idea, memory or emotion, each piece emerges guided by intuition and imagination, often resulting with positive and vibrant visual narratives.
After graduating with a BA(hons) degree in graphics, Diane spent several years in design and PR, before she finally began her journey with painting in 2016. Working from her garden studio on the outskirts of Fowey she continues to draw inspiration from the surrounding countryside, landscape, coastal life, and travels. Her work can be found in private collections across the UK and around the world.
