Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website.

We are proudly sponsored by Artlook Software Ltd.

Prime Women Artists is a network for practising women artists across Cornwall, founded in 2023 by artists and friends Sharon Bruster and Maggie Cochran.

Our aim was to build an informal community for women artists, to enable creative collaboration and mutual support, to support practice development and to create opportunities to raise the profile of women in the arts in our County as well as creating opportunities to show our work together.

We now have nearly 150 members from across Cornwall.

Our values are:

    Collaboration, not competition
    Better when we share
    Learn together
    Play together
    Encourage, empower, explore

If you are a practising woman artist who lives in Cornwall, have an established online presence and history of exhibiting and are interested in joining our network, please send us your details using our contact form HERE.

If you are a gallery owner, arts organisation or journalist wanting to know more about our network or to connect with us on art projects, collaborations or exhibition opportunities, please contact us HERE.

Please subscribe to our new BLOG on Substack (it's free!). We are just getting started but hope to post here regularly once we get going.

News

In March 2025 we will be returning to Poly Falmouth with a new group show, Still Life. Planning has already started for that show and we expect to have around 20 exhibitors.

The theme for the show is:

Exploring stillness. In this exhibition, we explore and expand the Still Life genre by inviting artists to think about stillness, be it physical, emotional or conceptual. From the quiet beauty of everyday objects simply gathered, arranged and captured to glimpsed moments of stillness in the natural world to abstract representations of emotional stillness, we ask what it means to be still in a time of constant motion and flux.

We will be having a PV on Tuesday 11th from 5-7pm - you are most welcome to come and join us.

Watch this space for further announcements and news of other exhibitions.
