Inspired by the Cornish Coast

The Cornish coast is my sole inspiration, most specifically the meeting of land, sea and sky.

My work starts with walking and looking. Exploring our local beaches and coastal paths. Gathering images and ideas, feelings and experiences which are brought back to my studio to be remembered and explored.

Exploration is at the heart of my approach - with each series of work, I investigate new ways to express my memories and feelings in paint and ink.

Rich surfaces, colourful coastal palettes and expressive mark-making draw the viewer closer and evoke memories of favourite coastal places and things. Shapes, colours and textures observed at the meeting of land and sea are constant motifs in my work.

My mission is to bring the coast to you - memories of beach walks and rockpooling, seaside holidays, the smell of salt air and feel of seaspray on your face. The wild, untamed beauty. Moments of calm in busy lives.
