The headland at Durgan is a very distinctive shape, with two little trees. This was inspired by a particularly stunning winter sunrise when the whole bay turned a beautiful rose pink. I wanted to paint it, but also not have it look too sickly, so several weeks were spent building up the layers and adjusting the balance between the dark tones, the pink and the Helford turquoise.
