A new day, a new dawn

SOLD

This painting sold whilst still on the easel, to a couple who were visiting during Open Studio. I think it is one of my most successful from a sky and water perspective, almost Turneresque style clouds. It is of Grebe at dawn, and I have used translucent glazes of oil and cold wax to create the water tones, and scumbled brushstrokes in the sky. I love the slab of off white over the headland where the sun is rising, a bold brush mark which draws your eye into the painting. The title comes from a line in the Nina Simone song, “Feeling Good” which was playing as I painted this.
